Light the Fire Closing & Memorial Day Ceremonies

DATE: Saturday, May 24th

TIME: 11:00 AM–4:00 PM

LOCATION: OPFOB Flagpole & Barn

COST: Free and open to the Public

Our 22 day fire will officially come to an end as we transition the fire that has been burning in recognition of veteran suicide, to a fire that will burn in remembrance of those we lost on the battlefield.

This year we are honored to host retired Major General Thomas Mullikin. The newly appointed director of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is a decorated retired senior military officer having served with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps, U.S. Army Reserve, where he was the international legal officer and assistant staff judge advocate attached to an element of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. Mullikin retired as major general/commander of the S.C. State Guard.

This will be a truly inspiring event!

Optional Coffee & Camaraderie will start at 9:00am in the barn, with the ceremony kicking off promptly at 11:00am at the flagpole. Stay to watch this last fire burn and enjoy lunch and more camaraderie.

“OPFOB is all about healing and building peer-to-peer relationships. We are losing more of our heroes to suicide than we did in battle. I have seen firsthand the positive impact OPFOB has made on them and their families.”
